Therapists Who Take Oscar

Oscar is popular with people who buy their own coverage. Five of our clinicians accept it for therapy.

Oscar members

Many Oscar members buy coverage on their own, often through the health insurance marketplace, because they are self-employed, between jobs or work for a small company. If that is you, five clinicians here accept Oscar.

Clinicians who take Oscar

  • Dr. Sunetra Martinez
  • Michelle Mitchell, LMFT
  • Kamau Richard, LPC-S
  • Torresy Smith, LPC

Deductibles on individual plans

Individual plans often carry a deductible, which means you may pay the full allowed amount for sessions until it is met. That is normal and not a sign anything is wrong with your coverage.

Ask Oscar how much of your deductible remains and what you will owe per session after that.

Between jobs, self-employed, or new to Oscar

Starting a business, leaving a job or juggling contract work can bring its own stress, and losing employer coverage can make people put off care. If your Oscar plan covers outpatient mental health, you can start now. If you are paying toward a deductible, ask about session frequency with your clinician; some people start weekly and space sessions out as they feel steadier.

Michelle Mitchell sees couples, families and children. Dr. Martinez and Maggie Johnson see teens and adults, Kamau Richard offers telehealth counseling, and Torresy Smith works with teens, young adults and athletes.
