Hypnosis to Help You Quit Smoking
Use hypnosis and self-hypnosis to work on cravings, triggers and the habits around smoking, as part of your plan to quit.
Why quitting is hard
Nicotine is only part of it. Smoking is tied to coffee, breaks at work, driving, stress and the people you smoke with. Hypnosis works on those routines and the moments when a craving hits.
What sessions focus on
- Your personal triggers and high-risk moments
- Rehearsing a different response to a craving
- Relaxation you can reach in a minute or two
- Self-hypnosis to practice at home
- Your reasons for quitting, kept front and center
A typical plan
- 1.
Prepare
Pick a quit date and map your triggers.
- 2.
Sessions
One or more hypnosis sessions around your quit date.
- 3.
Practice
Daily self-hypnosis between sessions.
- 4.
Follow-up
Check-ins for the stretches that prove hardest.

Combining approaches
Many people quit with a mix of supports. You can use hypnosis alongside nicotine replacement or medication from your doctor, and alongside counseling with one of our therapists.
An important note
Hypnosis is not psychotherapy or medical treatment and does not replace care from your physician or therapist. Our hypnosis practitioner is not a U.S. licensed physician or licensed therapist.
Results vary from person to person, and no specific outcome is guaranteed.
What to expect afterward
Some people find cravings ease quickly; others need several sessions and steady practice. Slips are common and are part of quitting, not proof that it cannot work. Plan in advance for the hardest moments, such as the first morning coffee or the drive home.
Getting ready
Before your first session, notice when you smoke for a few days and what you were doing or feeling. Choose a quit date, tell someone you trust, and clear cigarettes and lighters from your car and home.
