About Dr. Martinez
Dr. Sunetra T. Martinez is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Licensed School Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience supporting children, adolescents and adults. She supervises LPC Associates and school psychology interns, teaches as adjunct faculty at Texas Southern University, and is a published children's book author.
Dr. Martinez earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University and her master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She also holds dual bachelor's degrees in psychology and zoology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her training includes work at Texas Children's Hospital, Small Steps Nurturing Center, Baylor College of Medicine and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Houston ISD and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, providing crisis intervention, consultation, counseling, and psychological and psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents with autism, ADHD and other learning and mental health needs.
Dr. Martinez views therapy as an investment in personal growth and overall well-being. She uses a cognitive behavioral approach to help people identify their strengths, build on what has already worked, and understand how past experiences and current patterns shape where they are now.
