About Dr. Diaz
Dr. Diaz is a dual-certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner who helps adults and families navigate depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma-related conditions, and substance use. He blends clear, evidence-based medication management with a calm, collaborative style so clients understand their options and feel in control of their care.
He has provided care across hospital, community, and outpatient settings, most recently at Arbor Mental Health & Family Medical Center (San Antonio) and previously with the San Antonio State Hospital and community clinics in New York City (Metropolitan Center for Mental Health; Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center), where he managed medications across primary care, mental health, and addiction medicine. A retired U.S. Army Major (Nurse Corps), he brings a steady, mission-driven approach to privacy, safety, and follow-through.
An experienced educator, Dr. Diaz has taught at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, St. Philip’s College (San Antonio), and South College (TN), helping train the next generation of nurses and advanced practice clinicians. He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatry from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, with prior degrees from Sage Graduate School and SUNY Albany.
