About Dr. Mishra
Dr. Kiran Mishra has been a licensed psychologist since 1999. For more than two decades in private practice she has worked with adults through stressful life events and critical decisions.
She is trained in CBT and brings a direct, practical style to therapy. Clients who value straightforward communication tend to do well with her. She encourages people to look hard at the beliefs and patterns that hold them back, and then to try something different between sessions.
Before returning to her hometown, Dr. Mishra served on the faculty at Stanford University Medical Center and on staff at Stanford Hospital in California. She also worked with producers in Los Angeles, conducting psychological evaluations for the award-winning reality show Intervention. She has been a guest psychologist on Houston radio programs and has published articles in academic journals.
Dr. Mishra earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1998, and her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated magna cum laude with special honors in psychology. She is a Sugar Land native and a graduate of Dulles High School.
In her spare time she enjoys podcasts and videos on cognitive neuroscience, health and nutrition, and alternative treatments.

A first appointment
A first session with Dr. Mishra is by video. She will ask what is weighing on you, what decision or stressor brought you in, and what you have already tried. Expect direct questions and practical next steps rather than open-ended talk.
