Therapists Who Take Medicare
Dr. Renata Nero, a Licensed Psychologist, accepts Medicare for therapy with adults and older adults, in person and by telehealth.
Medicare at Sugar Land Counseling Center
Medicare is accepted by one clinician on our team: Dr. Renata Nero, a Licensed Psychologist and retired professor and department chair. She sees adults and older adults for anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationships and faith-related concerns.
Other clinicians may be able to see Medicare members as private pay. Call us and we will talk it through.
Why older adults come in
Retirement, the loss of a spouse, a new diagnosis, moving closer to family or caring for a partner can all shake a steady life. Depression in later life is common and often mistaken for normal aging. It is treatable at any age.

A note on the paperwork
Complete the insurance section of your paperwork in the client portal by 7 am on the day of your first session. If it is not complete by then, we will not know you plan to use insurance and you will be billed the full session fee.
Telehealth for older adults
If driving is hard, Dr. Nero offers telehealth. A family member can help set up the video call before the session and then step out so you can talk privately.
Working with family and doctors
With your written permission, Dr. Nero can coordinate with your physician or with a family member who helps with your care. If memory changes are part of the picture, our testing team offers memory and dementia evaluations as private pay, and Dr. Nero can help you decide whether an evaluation makes sense.
