Dr. Kumar Venkatachalam

Kumar Venkatachalam brings decades of experience in medicine and psychological wellness to his hypnosis work. He was originally trained and licensed as a physician (MD) in India, completed a residency in Psychological Medicine (DPM), and spent many years helping people with fears, low mood, obsessive thoughts, smoking, weight management, and medical and psychosomatic concerns.

Kumar is not a U.S. licensed physician or a licensed therapist. At Sugar Land Counseling Center he practices as a hypnosis practitioner and keeps up his training through annual continuing education.

He is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists, the American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts, the American Academy of Pain Management and the International Society for Hypnosis, and a life member of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (India).

His approach rests on the belief that you are not broken and already have the resources you need for change. Acting as an educator and guide, he teaches hypnotic and self-hypnosis techniques you can keep using between sessions. Sessions are confidential and respectful, and they fit around the medical care you already have.
